“The Kartli Wine Festival 2013” was held in Gori
The President of Georgia attended the “Kartli Wine Festival 2013”which was held at the rehabilitated Castle District in Gori. Mikheil Saakashvili spoke with winemakers and noted that such events will assist popularization of the local wine, which will give farmers more income. The President also met with winemakers whose vineyards were illegally left on the other side of the barbwire installed in Dvani.
The Kartlian winemakers treated the President with wine pressed out of ancient breeds of vine. Exhibition and sale of various handmade goods was also held within the scope of the wine festival. Mikheil Saakashvili symbolically bought handmade products by persons with limited abilities and took photos with them.
The Wine Festival aims at popularizing the Kartli wine with special characteristics, retaining local vine breeds and diversifying, introduction and popularization of the wine pressed out of unique breeds left in the region, making a catalog of winemakers with the aim of future consultations and services, making new winemakers interested and attracting local and foreign markets.
The Administration of the President of Georgia is the organizer of “Kartli Wine Festival 2013.” As the Head of the Administration of the President of Georgia, Andro Barnovi stated that this festival will not only be heard in Gori. It will spread to the entire country.
